Who needs Montana RASS All Workplaces training?
Choose All Workplaces if you sell or serve alcohol for customers to drink on site, such as at a bar or restaurant, or directly supervise that work. This Montana Responsible Alcohol Sales and Service (RASS) course also covers off-premises retail sales and third-party delivery.

Which Montana RASS course should I take?
Choose All Workplaces for on-site service, including jobs that also involve retail sales or delivery. Choose Off-Premises & Delivery if you only sell sealed alcohol to go or make third-party deliveries. All Workplaces includes the off-premises and delivery material, so you do not need both courses.

How long is Montana RASS training?
Montana requires at least 120 minutes of instruction for All Workplaces, or 60 minutes for Off-Premises & Delivery. Quizzes, knowledge checks and the final exam are additional time. All Workplaces has 13 modules; the retail and delivery-only course has six. You can pause and pick up where you left off.

How do I pass Montana RASS All Workplaces training?
Complete the lessons and module quizzes, then score at least 80 percent on the final exam. Practice scenarios and lesson checks help you prepare along the way.

Is Montana RASS training available in Spanish?

How soon do I need to complete Montana RASS training?
Covered employees and their immediate supervisors generally must complete training within 60 days of hire. Third-party alcohol delivery drivers must be at least 21 and complete training before their first alcohol delivery.

How often do I renew Montana RASS training?
Montana requires renewal training every three years after your initial training. Keep your training record and check when your next renewal is due.
What happens after I pass?
Your training provider reports your completion to Montana CARD. Your CertReady proof of training is separate from the state's official RASS record.
